Mike Legenthal is a passionate aficionado of jazz and blues, known all over the world for her friendliness, teaching skills, following, and expression. She embodies vibrant energy and technical precision, and strives to make every social dance the best possible. Whether at residencies, international workshops, or private trainings, she brings preparation and flexibility every time. Her classes can involve students morphing into robots or seaweed, standing on one foot blindly, or analyzing chord changes- always in pursuit of art. Regardless of subject, she always brings abstract and concrete topics, plenty of levity, and homework, to help students improve long after class ends.

Dan Legenthal

|
Dan Legenthal lives in Boston, MA, working on as many vernacular jazz and blues dances as he can. His passion extends to both the social floor and competition. When not competing, he teaches at events like Korea Blues Camp (South Korea), Hot Blues In Toulouse (France), and The Blues Experiment (USA).
Drawing from his degree in Classical Guitar, Dan has unique insight into how to practice and develop one’s skills, and uses that knowledge to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Since dance is experiential, Dan likes to prioritize doing, and treats learning like a sequence of experiments where you can learn as much from failures as from success. This philosophy is anchored on clear, precise language, and a belief that every student is capable of developing their own skill by patient, intentional practice |
Katrina Rogers
Katrina Rogers is an International Blues Dance Instructor, the founder of Move With Ease, and the director of Blue "Kat" Blues Dance Crew in Denver. With over eight years of teaching blues and a lifetime of grooving to music, she creates spaces where dancers can feel at home in their bodies, confident in their movement, and connected to the music.
Katrina is deeply passionate about keeping the afro in blues dance—honoring its Black American roots while exploring its connections across the African diaspora. She believes in blending history with innovation, making room for both tradition and personal expression on the dance floor. With 17+ years of experience in movement instruction—spanning personal fitness, track and field, and dance—Katrina brings both technical expertise and a playful, intuitive approach to her teaching. More than just learning steps, her students discover how to feel the dance, make it their own, and move with freedom. Come dance with Katrina, where every step tells a story, and every groove is a celebration! |
Little Elmore Reed Blues Band
The Little Elmore Reed Blues Band is a group of some of the best, most dedicated and experienced blues musicians in Austin. Far from being another run-of-the-mill blooze jam band, Little Elmore Reed has a unique sound all it's own. It's based on and deeply rooted in classic Chicago blues while embracing west coast swing and the early rock and blues of New Orleans, all played the way only Texas guys can. The musicians have other gigs that pay the bills and they gather every Monday to play purely for the love of the music and the interaction with a crowd that loves the blues in a funky, sweaty, powerfully soulful environment.

Registration Options Explained
Austin Blues Bash offers multiple registration prices! We need your help to make this event financially accessible for everyone. If you can pay a bit more, your generosity will be paid forward to those who would not be otherwise able to attend due to financial needs. Please consider paying the highest price that you can afford for Austin Blues Bash 2025. We know that this year has been difficult for a lot of our community members financially and we want to make sure as many people can participate as possible while still paying our instructors, DJs, and bands for their time and their skills. Dancers who are able to purchase a Community Supporter pass will be our heroes and open the door for others to come dance with us!
Community Supporter Workshop & Dance Pass: $138
Will you help us lift up those members of our community who have less? Your additional funds will help members of our community attend during uncertain times.
All Weekend Workshop & Dance Pass: $118
If every attendee were asked to pay the same price for our event to break-even this would be the cost.
Reduced Price Workshop & Dance Pass: $98
There will be a limited number of reduced-price passes based on the number of community supporters we have, so please seriously consider the All Weekend Workshop & Dance Pass before opting for this pass price. If this price still presents a barrier to your attendance consider volunteering, or email us at [email protected] to get the code for the reduced-price pass.
